Com' sociale : Utiliser les bons codes
C'est une invitation à lire ce billet très instructif de mon ami Lepetitnègre. Comment est ce que le message peut être interprété quand il est présenté d'une manière ou d'une autre devant tel ou tel public. Je lui ai dit que je pense qu'il y a des codes qu'il faut utiliser pour des types de messages particuliers (Communication sociale sur des sujets graves !), je lui ai dit aussi que son article illustrait très bien et démontrait la nécessité de bien connaître les codes qu'on veut employer qui sont toujours fonction des publics qu'on veut viser. Bien choisir ses leaders d'opinions, la meilleure manière de leur faire dire les choses pour le cas de figure. ça devrait servir à plus d'un...je vous laisse lire !
Quoi de plus simple et direct que d’utiliser la publicité pour faire passer un message d’intérêt général à la populace ? En parcourant le bled je suis tombé sur deux campagnes qui ont (manifestement) mobilisé des moyens considérables et on ne peut le leur reprocher vu les enjeux. Mais hélas dans les deux cas la réception de la population n’a pas été celle à laquelle on se serait attendu.
Prévention VIH-SIDA
La première campagne est une campagne de prévention contre les MST (Maladie Sexuellement Transmissible) dont la star actuelle est le VIH-SIDA. Le but de la campagne était clairement de prolonger les messages de sensibilisation sur l’utilisation du préservatif lors de tout rapport sexuel. Les responsables locaux ont eu raison de la contre pub de certains conservateurs , l’église catholique en tête, et ce sont imposé de force comme porteur de la riposte officielle contre la maladie.
Pour contrer ce fléau, donc, les services concernés du pays des 1000 Collines ont fait appel à des stars de la chanson locale pour servir d’ambassadeurs de leur cause auprès de la population.
Il est vrai que ce genre de message personnel passe mieux auprès de certaines populations que venant d’un vieux politicien. Quoi de plus logique aussi étant donné le niveau de popularité qu’on atteint certains de ces artistes cette année. Je me souviens m’être retrouvé dans un stade archi comble où la star du jour n’a eu qu’à chanter deux titres sur les six prévues à son agenda. Les quatre autres ont été interprété à l’unisson par le public dans un déchainement assourdissant, mais je digresse là.
Le directeur de campagne a trouvé judicieux de piocher dans le vivier des artistes représentants toutes les tranches d’age et tous les sexes. Ainsi on a un vieux routier spécialisé, me dit-on, dans la reprise des chanson de l’age d’or de la musique locale, un vieux « jeune » sur le retour (Masamba Intoré) , la jeune star masculine du R&B locale (Tom Close) et sa contrepartie féminine (Liza Kamikazi). Comme les haterz ne dorment jamais que d’un seul œil, ils n’ont pas manqué de fusiller les stars affiche par affiche.
Le vieux briscar inconnu de la plupart des jeunes a été la risée de ceux qui s’étonnent qu’il soit encore « en activité ». Le vieux jeune a été qualifié de « Shuga Dadi« qui traduit du Kiny-english donne Sugar Daddy 
à savoir un vieux beau qui drague de jeunes étudiantes. Le rapport avec le préservatif ? Et bien celui-ci semble avoir trouvé le moyen à travers son utilisation de « ne laisser aucune trace ».
Le jeune crooner du R&B a été attaqué par tous ceux dont la copine n’a d’yeux que pour le brave gars. Mais plus terrible ont été les attaques sur sa petite taille (moins d’1m65) par rapport au préservatif qu’il exhibe avec style.
Les attaques les plus féroces, enfin, ont été vis à vis de la jeune chanteuse. Et contrairement à la tradition phallocrate du bled ce sont les autres filles qui s’en sont pris à elle. Alors que les gars s’étonnaient d’apprendre qu’elle savait ce qu’était un préservatif les sœurs, elles, ce sont plutôt demandées si elle savait vraiment à quoi cela servait. J’imagine que l’auteur de cette affiche voulais insister sur le coté ludique voir fun de l’acte, fun qui n’est en rien entamer par l’usage d’un préservatif. Le public lui n’a vu qu’une gamine qui se sert d’une capote comme d’un lance pierre.
SINIGURISHA
La seconde campagne qui se traduirait par « Je ne suis pas à vendre », se propose de « tacler » comme disent les anglophones le problème évoqué plus haut des Shuga Dadi et de leur pendant féminin les Shuga Mami.
L’affiche très à propos montre un aventurier d’age mur en train de tenter de courtiser une gamine en uniforme scolaire. Le gars, lunettes noires fixées sur le nez est au volant d’un voiture, symbolise une certaine aisance financière. Il aborde une jeune fille, à pieds, qui, elle, symbole un autre type de condition financière. Le message est des plus explicite, la gamine refuse les avances du type malgré le fait qu’il exhibe des arguments censés convaincre des jeunes sans trop de moyens et sans doute vite impressionnés. C’est en tout cas ce que j’ai pensé en voyant l’affiche. Mais l’interprétation que m’ont donné les passants est bien différente.
A ceux à qui je demandais ce que représentait l’affiche ont me répondait « c’est un gars qui propose 5.000 francs à une fille pour passer un bon moment ensemble et elle lui répond que c’est 10.000 balles où rien« . Les blédards seraient-ils machos? Attendez de voir la version « mâle » de l’affiche.
Celle-ci représente une Shuga Mammy en pleine action. Là encore l’interprétation de la rue et des étudiants plus particulièrement visés par la campagne est sans équivoque: « Le garçon convoité dit: Une minute ma chère: on avait convenu 3 bouteilles mais je vois qu’il en manque une« .Pour la petit histoire, la campagne a été rebaptisée dans la rue « Je ne suis pas bon marché ».
Un mien collaborateur m’a toujours dit que les produits vendus en Europe doivent être tropicalisés avant d’entrer sur le marché locale. Il est désormais clair pour moi que cet adage est également valable pour la communication en générale et la publicité en particularité. Ça va devenir un casse tête de plus en plus grand dans ce monde mondiale de faire un campagne de publicité à destination du globe entier unique dans sa forme et son interprétation.

An informative article. Using the right role model for a campaign is really important, what a gaffe to make an old Shuga Dadi the front of an HIV campaign. You are also right that European products do need to be tropicalised before entering African Markets. There is the famous story of baby food company that used European packaging which had a picture of a baby on the front, when it is normal in some African countries (due to literacy levels) to put a picture of what the contents of the jar are. Needless to say the 'baby food' didn't sell well until they changed the picture.
