Nabil Zorkot, photographe de pub
Il est photographe de publicité à Abidjan où il vit avec sa femme et ses trois enfants. Lui c'est Nabil Zorkot le photographe publicitaire le plus célèbre de la place. Célèbre pour la singularité de son métier mais aussi et surtout pour le rendu de son travail. Il a accepté de répondre à quelques unes de nos questions pour nous permettre à vous et à moi de mieux cerner ce métier de plus en plus escamoté par une nouvelle culture du graphisme « low cost », notamment à travers l'achat de « photos toutes faites » sur Internet.
Pouvez-vous décrire pour nos lecteurs le travail quotidien d'un photographe de publicité ?
C'est un début de matinée ordinaire avec un bon café et la lecture des mails reçus parmi lesquels on peut avoir une demande de cotation, de casting, de photos liées au stylisme - le tout indiqué comme évidemment urgent . Un mail reçu d'une agence contient une maquette jointe indiquant une prise de vue de personnages dans une certaine situation, le tout en studio de préférence.
Lorsque nous donnons notre accord pour les dates, nous recevons en général un nouveau mail nous demandant de revoir le devis à la baisse car le budget de l'annonceur est limité ; arguments à l'appui on convient d'un compromis sur un poste du devis.
Lorsqu'enfin tout est calé et que l'agence, l'annonceur et le modèle sont réunis, je commence à shooter en général dès le lendemain matin.
Quel est l'itinéraire qui vous a amené à la photo publicitaire ?
Après des études secondaires en Côte d'Ivoire, je suis parti au Canada avec le Baccalauréat en poche pour faire des études de cinéma incluant des cours de physique, de chimie, d'histoire et d'anthropologie.
Cela m'a donné un spectre de connaissance assez large pour me permettre de saisir la photographie dans toute sa dimension culturelle, sociale et esthétique.
Après 8 hivers canadiens d'études et d'expériences professionnelles, je suis retourné au soleil de Côte d'Ivoire, diplômes de production cinématographique en poche, pour m'installer comme photographe professionnel et publicitaire mais aussi comme réalisateur de films vidéo pour la pub et l'industrie. L'industrie du film publicitaire était balbutiante et pas vraiment gratifiante... j'ai préféré me tourner essentiellement vers la photographie.
Quelles sont les campagnes dont vous êtes le plus fier ?
Si vous regardez mon site, vous verrez que certaines de mes photos ont permis à des agences de remporter de grand prix lors des « Mondial de la publicité francophone » de Paris et Beyrouth.
De manière générale, je suis particulièrement satisfait d'une prise de vue lorsque c'est un travail d'équipe abouti et qui permet de promouvoir un produit de la manière la plus originale et la plus inattendue.
Mes campagnes pour Wrangler, Ivoiris (désormais Orange) et Coca-Cola sont des campagnes dont j'ai tiré de grandes satisfactions professionnelles.
Quel regard portez-vous sur l'univers de la photo publicitaire et de la pub en général dans la Côte d'Ivoire d'aujourd'hui ?
Je dois le dire franchement : j'attends toujours de recevoir des agences des maquettes de photos à réaliser qui demandent audace et créativité. Malheureusement je ne suis pas très satisfait de ce côté car les campagnes sont beaucoup trop conventionnelles.
Aujourd'hui, avec l'invasion du numérique, n'importe qui s'improvise photographe. Je vois certaines photos faites avec des appareils amateurs avec leur corollaire de défauts sans que cela ne semble choquer les créatifs de certaines agences qui pensent pouvoir tout corriger grâce à des logiciels de retouche. C'est navrant et dommage pour la qualité de la publicité en Côte d'Ivoire car en Europe l'exigence qualitative n'a pas baissé : les photographes sont tenus de fournir les meilleures images qui soient pour les campagnes.
Paradoxalement - et c'est peut-être à mettre au crédit du numérique - on a assiste à une explosion de la publicité et on voit même des personnes qui font des annonces routières sur affiches 4X3 juste pour annoncer leur anniversaire, leur mariage ou tout autre événement personnel. Chacun appréciera à sa manière mais il ne faut pas que la publicité devienne une pollution visuelle qui produira finalement l'inverse du résultat recherché par les créatifs.
Que conseilleriez-vous à un jeune qui veut entrer aujourd'hui dans ce petit univers des photographes professionnels, notamment spécialisés dans la photo pub ?
Beaucoup de persévérance et surtout une méthodologie pointilleuse pour obtenir le respect des exigences esthétiques et qualitatives du client. Un client qui investit des millions de francs dans une campagne pub attend du photographe qu'il l'aide à mettre en valeur son produit, le conseille même dans la meilleure approche visuelle pour vendre le produit.
En raison des exigences inhérentes au métier de photographe publicitaire particulièrement en Côte d'Ivoire, le photographe doit, comme un généraliste, toucher un éventail assez large de domaines et de thèmes. Je privilégie en général l'esthétique la plus dépouillée et la plus simple. J'utilise rarement des filtres ou effets spéciaux recherchant plutôt à tirer profit des éclairages naturels lorsque cela est possible.
La nature que je contemple souvent me donne les plus belles leçons d'éclairage.
Elle m'inspire réflexion et inspiration profonde.
Il va sans dire que la technique reste demeure importante pour la réussite d'une photographie mais elle doit rester subordonnée à la capture du sujet lui-même dans ce qui est le plus réaliste et le plus proche de nos perceptions sensorielles optiques.
Aujourd'hui avec l'invasion du numérique, il est bon de faire remarquer que l'argentique permet plus de souplesse et d'indépendance avec une capacité d'agrandissement illimité suivant les besoins.

Je crois que M.ZORKOT a raison dans ses propos.Car aujourd'hui l'on ne devrait prétexter de l'évolution technologique et des contraintes temporaires pour récupérer des images du net toutes faites au détriment de la pure photographie pour concevoir les affiches. c'est ce qui explique que pour un produit grand public à vendre sur la Côte d'Ivoire l'on nous présente des image de personnes qui n'ont rien a voir avec notre réalité... cela dénature les fondements publicitaires. Nabil Zorkot est un nom d'un des grand photographe créatif que j'ai jamais vu. Sa créativité et son intelligence est si merveilleux que tout le monde se sentent heureux de le voir.

Je crois que M.ZORKOT a raison dans ses propos.Car aujourd'hui l'on ne devrait prétexter de l'évolution technologique et des contraintes temporaires pour récupérer des images du net toutes faites au détriment de la pure photographie pour concevoir les affiches. Cool I love this article .it's standardized, clear and concise ,that inever heard about it before .
